About our parish…
Christ Church is a parish of the Anglican Catholic Church…committed to Biblical Truth and Catholic Order…making Jesus Christ known through Word and Sacrament. We are an active and welcoming parish family that cherishes working and worshiping together in the historic Anglican tradition. Our liturgy is according to the 1928 Book of Common Prayer and Anglican Missal. We enjoy Coffee and Refreshment Hour together following the 900 AM Parish Sunday Mass. Continuous education is a hallmark of the parish. Following Coffee Hour is an always active and thoughtful Discussion Group. Christ Church Parish is housed in the beautiful and historic "Carpenter's Gothic" church building, which was originally built in 1869 on the foundation of the old Mission San Jose, which had been destroyed by an earthquake in 1868. In 1982, the sturdy wooden church was from its original location in what is now known as Fremont California and reconstructed on the present site on North El Camino Real at State Street in San Mateo. Since its 1978 founding, Christ Church Parish has served San Mateo and surrounding communities, caring for the people in the long-standing traditions of Anglo-Catholicism.
